It delights me to no end that the new Freddie Mercury film, Bohemian Rhapsody, is due to be released on November 2nd, heralding the new Venus Synodic Cycle that begins that very day. The heliacal rise of Venus as a morning star occurs at 28 degrees of Libra, conjunct Freddie’s natal Venus placement (that rests amidst a juicy stellium).
I mean- it’s *almost* like they planned it.
It’s true that the band, itself, had at least minimal astro-intel, given Freddie’s stage name and Queen’s coat-of-arms logo that included images based on each band member’s Sun Sign. But, this is high level astro, here. There would have to be a serious astro nerd on the production team vying for this alignment. It’s not impossible, I suppose, and may even be more probable now than ever, but however unlikely and whatever the case: the timing is divine.

Venus is considered to be ‘at home’ in the sign of Libra and therefore able to deliver on all that she promises, such as: unification, sweetness, partnership, harmony, beauty, pleasure, attraction. This placement has traditionally been thought to be a very loving placement whose primary considerations might be about harmony and partnership. I would say this is not wrong, in Freddie’s case. Though he does seem to stand out, he operated in partnership both publicly and privately for most of his career.
Also, in my own experience, Libra energy can be a bit like a Queen distributing power, attention, and care over her dominion, as I mention in this blog from a past series of Venusian observations. I can’t help but think that Freddie Mercury, then, is showing up at this important moment to offer a new way to consider this Queenly energy. A new ‘feminine’ archetype for the masses. He was, as they say, ‘before his time’. Which, of course, is one reason he is so well remembered.
The Venus synodic cycle that begins on November 2nd lasts for about 18 months and has an even longer arc that will bring it back around in another 8 years. It will return a number of times before making way for another series of Venusian archetypes that will cycle through at a magnitude of about a hundred years. This heliacal rise in Libra marks the first in many decades. And, though Freddie, himself, was born during a Venus in Aries synodic cycle (as were many of us), the spirit of Freddie Mercury is clearly being sent to us in a timely fashion with perhaps a message or indication to follow his Libran lead. The zeitgeist clearly seems to suggest as much. I don’t know about you, but as for me, I will be considering Freddie Mercury as an apt Archetypal figure for the energy of this round of Venusian energy in our collective psyche.
All hail Queen Freddie! Long live the Queen! <3

PS- As some of you may know, I presented a case study on Freddie Mercury during my execution of the Portland School of Astrology Astro-fluency program. This is when I first became aware of his natal chart in any respect. It was because, at first blush, he and I seemed to have five natal placements in common, including the ascendant, the sun, and the moon! That is a lot of overlap.
I like to look up celebrities with the same placements that I have and collect them together as a kind of archetypal council of guides for that part of my chart. I look them up on one website, check the birth data on another, and keep track of them on a third. It is not as time-consuming as it sounds, and quite fun, besides. I was incredulous to learn that Freddie and I had so much in common! Upon further investigation, it turns out that the chart that I’d first seen had been a ‘best guess’ chart, created by someone guessing at the time of birth, since his birth certificate only shows the date of birth. The ambiguity of the time of birth leaves a few placements with the potential to change signs over the day, including at least two of those which I’d thought we had in common. Sadly, this reduced our overlap to merely two placements in common (which, honestly, made a lot more sense to me!). But, it was too late: I just *had* to make a case study on:
"THE TOP FIVE REASONS WHY… I'M NOT FREDDIE MERCURY"
Through the study, I learned of even more reasons why I’m not more like Freddie- not even on paper (i.e. in our natal charts)! He has a few stand-out situations in his chart that are not echoed in mine in the slightest. Not to mention our non-chart fundamentals.
If you live in Portland and are a Freddie/Queen or Astro fan, you may be able to join me for a live redelivery of this case study. I’ll be offering it soon after the heliacal rise of Venus (ie opening night of Bohemian Rhapsody/early November).
Stay tuned!
