In my last post, I mentioned how Sagittarius rules the rump. In this post, it’s all about the tum. Virgo rules a large portion of the body, all through the stomach area, including all of the digestive organs. Back in January, when I was considering what to expect with the different planet placements of the year, I had thought Jupiter’s expansive energy in Virgo would possibly have the effect of expanding my health regimen (Virgo rules health). I hadn’t taken into consideration the even more literal translation of this position (at least as far as medical astrology is concerned): my tummy has been expanding! Yes, that’s right, I’ve put on a pound or so in the middle region. I’ve been wondering if other people have experienced something similar (and if so, perhaps you’d like to join me in considering the expansive energies of Jupiter in Virgo as having an influence!).

What to do about this extra ‘energy’? Well, during a personal retreat I took last month, I did an exercise in which I summoned up symbols from my own subconscious (a super simple exercise which I will explain in more detail in another blog post) to represent the same planet placements that I had been considering more cerebrally back in January. The symbol I received for Jupiter in Virgo was not a complicated diet manual or an exercise regimen or a new aerobics outfit: it was just the vision of a fork piercing a pile of greens in order to eat them. So simple and clear.
Eat healthy! Eat greens. Eat whole. Eat salad. If I’m going to have extra energy in my abdomen, I might as well channel it toward health and give it great fuel (rather than a bunch of cookies and hot chocolate, for example, or bread and cheese, or what-have-you).

So, as it turns out, my expanding tummy has turned my attention toward expanding my health, after all! Just as I had expected when I tried to figure out through sheer logic what Jupiter in Virgo could mean for me. The thing I really love about the symbolic imagery approach, in contrast, is that it is so simple and clear and so much more meaningful, not to mention clearly and easily applicable. It’s so much more visceral, really - at least in this case. The concept of “expanding health” is very mental and rather removed from physical daily life, actually, in and of itself. But the image of a fork piercing greens to eat them is REAL and EASY to adopt (and adapt!). In fact, if you do not care to go after your own Jupiter-in-Virgo symbol, please use mine! It seems pretty universal, healthy, and with few (if any) contraindications.
I’ll get into some of my other astrologically-inspired symbolic imagery in future blog posts.
In the meantime, eat those greens* (and expand your health, rather than just your tummy)!
*Follow me on Instagram to see what kinds of natural, healing greens I’ve been eating- right out of my own yard!
**ADDENDUM: After Jupiter went Direct, my symbol changed! The DIRECT Jupiter in Virgo symbol switched from Spring Greens to Summer Smoothies (on account of the best possible nutrients available in nature, I'm sure!). Mmmm...
