I have been working with Saturn energy lately, and it has been showing up like this: authority, time, systems, work, responsibility, discipline, boundaries- basically, for me it's all about owning my own 'shtuff' - even something as simple as my personal space; as in just the actual, physical space that my body takes up! I can't believe how something so basic can be given up, but it can! I am finding so many little ways that I give my own authority away. This doesn't even have to look like giving it TO anyone in particular, but can just be not claiming it, myself. This also doesn't mean that to 'recover' or 'compensate,' I have to swing on over to the opposite extreme: forcing my point of view on other people or taking over their personal space or anything like that, but it's just a subtle shift of the quality of my presence and awareness.
Sometimes, awareness is the key that opens the door to change. And 'change' doesn't have to be major to be effective. The most subtle shifts can -and often do- change everything -especially from the inside out!
Do you notice anything for yourself concerning these issues? It can be interesting (& rewarding!) to pay attention to the role 'authority' plays in your life. Give it a try (and let me know what comes of it)!
Sagittarius, which Saturn has just entered, has its own flavor of energy: religion, education, travel, expansion, meaning-making, truth-seeking, excess, optimism, freedom, adventure. Consider, for a moment, the Pope's tour: Authority in Religion, doing some very Structured Traveling just as Saturn enters Sagittarius. My! What a coincidence! ;)
But, what does Saturn in Sagittarius signify, in general, for the folks who are not the Pope (all the rest of us)? It could be about Structured Education, or Disciplined Optimism. It could be about putting limits (Saturn) on things like being [overly?] optimistic (Sagittarius). Limiting (Saturn) Expansion (Jupiter). According to the fine astrologers* who delivered an enjoyable 2015 Astrological Forecast here in Portland (get the download here), Saturn in Sagittarius could show up like any of the following (from my notes on their talk):
Making our own Meaning
Trusting Ourselves
Intuition based on our own Experience
Reigning in Powers that have Gone Too Far
And even (the 'danger'): Hopelessness (caused by feelings of Powerlessness), Cynicism.
"Cutting the Bull $#!t!" Is what I remember hearing at the talk. ;) All of these directives seem like pretty good things to try out while Saturn is in Sagittarius for the next two years! (Be sure to let me know how it goes for you! And, do keep an eye out on the 'world stage' - I can already see some things shaping up, I think!)
But, what does Saturn in Sagittarius mean for you, personally? The astrological weather, while having general overtones, affects everyone differently. So, if you want to know your own specifics, I'd suggest a reading! However, if you are seeking a general idea, you can check which house on your natal chart Sagittarius is in and that will give you some clue about what part of your life you can expect Saturn's passage to affect. (If you know your birth time, you can generate a copy of your natal chart [with assigned houses] at astro.com. If you don't know your time of birth, you can still see what planets [if any] are in the sign of Sagittarius and apt to be affected! Or- like I said, a reading might be in order!)
Fare thee well, fellow seekers!
