Everyone else seems to be all excited about Venus ‘dancing’ with Jupiter, up there in Leo. “It’s the Star of Bethlehem!” And all that. Maybe it’s because they are transiting (and are currently conjunct) my Natal Venus and Saturn (! - in my first house, no less) that I am having difficulty rejoicing in their placement. I had hoped that Venus transiting my Natal Venus in Leo would bring some Ooh La La into my life - especially with Jupiter there to expand everything! But, perhaps those were high hopes…
But, seriously, folks! I’m all burnt out! I know we’ve made it past the ‘hump’ of the summer solstice, so maybe that’ll help things a little - being that it is the height of the sun’s energy for the year (in much the same way that a Full Moon is the height of the moon’s energy for each moon cycle). I’m actually dreading the Sun entering Leo as it will very soon- all of this Leo is wearing me out! Too much fire!
It could be because my Sun (ruler of Leo) is ‘afflicted’. It could be Saturn, there, fighting with Jupiter: ‘Contract!” “No, Expand!” “No! Contract!” “No, Expand!” Etc. Etc. Ad infinitum. Hmmm… Whatever it is that’s got my gander, I hope it’s not got yours, too. Though, if a certain truth can be said about astrology, it’s that every moment affects each unique person differently! Oh, there are generalizations to be made, for sure- but we are each an astrological snowflake with all kinds of different bits’n’pieces that fit into the scheme of things in our own unique way.
And, what’s more- the effects of these new situations can’t always be easily predicted- though, I daresay, if you are having a strong experience, you could probably take your highs or ‘woes’ to your local astrologer and they could tell you exactly what’s going on! I just had this experience with an astro-geek friend of mine! We discuss astrological intricacies all the time and were going over some of her current experiences when we realized it all shows up in the stars & charts! Yet, it wasn’t necessarily something obvious that we’d have noticed at a casual glance was about to happen. There are just so many pieces that fall into place- all according to timing and personal star-chart flavor!
All of this to say that astrological insight can’t prevent energies from manifesting, though I find over and over again that having astro insight as a framework helps lead me to ways to work with and through sticky energies and even how to time things for greater success (for both cases, it is a matter of working with the energies at hand, rather than against them; sometimes, it’s as simple as planning a party for Friday -Venus’ day- rather than Tuesday -Mars’ day).
It may be that I’m too close to myself to make a diagnosis (though, I have to admit that writing this has helped!), but as I said: this Venus in Leo business is NOT what I expected! Where’s my pink boa? Where’s my dark chocolate? Where’re my dancing shoes? What is happening here?! Why the burn-out?! What does Venus conjunct Jupiter in Leo have to offer me? What do I have to offer her/them?! Perhaps that’s where I ought to start this time (and, probably, every time!).
I have been playing a game that I made up called #venuslovesme. All it means is that anytime I find myself doing something that I think Venus would like, or that honors Venus in some way, or shows my natal Venus placement working through me, I think or say #venuslovesme. It’s a great way to recognize different energies: to bring them into awareness by naming them as they happen. I bought a bunch of beautiful socks (back when Venus was in Gemini - and she took my shopping… A LOT!): #venuslovesme. I put on blue eyeliner: #venuslovesme. I drank a glass of wine with dinner: #venuslovesme. Try it! I know you’ll like it. (#venuslovesyoutoo!)
To conclude, I do believe that this is what has been missing: the Venus principle. Namely, pleasure! Which sounds crazy, how could I be missing it?! She’s conjunct my natal venus and even has the help of Jupiter to expand her energies! But, it seems that for some reason, I have not been letting this energy ‘flow’ in my life! I have somehow crumpled under the weight of the ‘great expectations’ I had for Venus and Jupiter in Leo (is that how Jupiter is playing out for me? overly optimistic?). It must also be iterated that Jupiter (all about expansion) and Saturn (Mr. Restrictions) MUST be having a tug-of-war. Perhaps that’s what’s got me all tired out and stuck: nowhere to go! Stuck between contraction and expansion! Well… Again, I guess I’d better look to Venus to get me out of this one! She can handle it. Bring on the wine and chocolate and eyeliner and pretty socks and dancing shoes and… (Now, here’s some Jupiter and Venus that I can handle! Move over Saturn! There’s a party startin’! Oh, no- wait! Don’t go! We need you to be the designated driver and order the pizza and pay the delivery driver and…) Party on, kids!

And, I love them- when I can get them to all work together! ;)
I hope this sexy conjunction is working out great for you!
I’d love to hear about how you think it’s affecting you or if you’ve noticed anything a propos!
PS- There’s also so much going on with this full moon that I didn’t even mention (though I write this under it’s silvery rays), because, hey- I’m talking about Venus, here! OK?! ;D
Keep up your beautiful learning,
